I really enjoyed getting to have a different view this past weekend. Michael & Anna were married and I was fortunate enough to be able to document their day in video. I have to say, I really, really enjoyed the process and the final result. The song is by Andrew Peterson (click for an iTunes link) is a wonderful tribute to the deep joy that comes from a commitment like marriage.
I shot this on my 5D Mark II using a 5omm f/1.8, 24-105 f/4, and 70-200 f/2.8. Hope you enjoy as much as I did!

Sometimes, the things we see every day are almost more than we can handle. We are bombarded by so many things demanding our attention that it is very easy to begin to believe that the only things that matter are the things we see.
The human eye can only see within a certain spectrum. You may have learned that our eyes can see ROYGBIV: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. That’s actually a very small portion of the spectrum. The sun emits radiation that is outside of that spectrum, namely infrared and ultraviolet. Below I’ve taken a picture that shows only a slice of the infrared spectrum hitting trees and water, grass and concrete. It looks different, doesn’t it?
I hope you enjoy it and that it helps you to remember that what we see isn’t all there is – there is much, much more.

Sorry it has been a little over a week without an update – we’ve been VERY busy. There will be a lot more coming in the way of photos, so stay tuned. I really enjoyed photographing Sarah and Alex – they were a bit hesitant about being behind the camera, but have told me they LOVED the way their photos turned out. As a photographer, that is my goal. It makes me happy to see them in love and to have images that they love as well. Congrats, you two!

My good friend and fellow photographer Rachel just married the love of her life this past weekend at a gorgeous estate in Battle Creek, MI. It was a beautiful ceremony and couldn’t have been at a prettier location. Here are a few of the images to look at while I edit the rest – if you’re photographing a photographer’s wedding, you take extra photos to cover ALL your bases!![]()
